Carter Redelman, a junior swimmer at Gardner-Webb University, shares his powerful and deeply personal journey with mental health as a student-athlete. From navigating the challenges of transferring schools and feeling homesick, to experiencing devastating personal loss, Carter opens up about the moments that shaped his perspective and purpose.

For this project I served as the video editor, sound design, audio engineer, videographer, and colorist. I crafted this video from start to finish to tell the story of Carter Redelman mental health journey.

A leader on and off the field, she embodies the complete student-athlete.

A US Marine Corps Distinguished Female Athlete in high school and member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, she makes an impact beyond the game through Team IMPACT and community service.

Her resilience shows in competition. After a midseason injury in 2025, she returned to deliver key innings, including a clutch game-tying solo home run at Radford and an RBI single at Clemson.

Her determination and versatility continue to elevate her team when it matters most.

UNC Asheville Track & Field and Cross Country’s Isabel Richardson is the definition of excellence — continuing to raise the standard in competition, in the classroom, and across campus.

A record-breaking distance runner, Isabel has etched her name into the program’s history books, holding school records in the indoor 3,000m and mile, the outdoor 1,500m, and the cross country 5,000m. Her performances have earned her All-Academic honors, All-Conference recognition, and the title of Female Bulldog of the Year.

But her impact doesn’t stop at the finish line.

With a 4.0 GPA as a Mass Communication major and a minor in Professional Writing and Rhetoric, Isabel tells the stories of others as a writer for The Blue Banner and through her work with the athletics department’s sports information team — covering games and crafting releases that highlight student-athletes.

Charleston Southern Women’s Golf Katie Stephens sets the standard for excellence in competition.

A dominant presence on the course, Katie has earned Big South Golfer of the Week honors three times and was named First-Team All-Conference in 2024–25 after a Second-Team selection the year prior. She recorded runner-up finishes at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, Elon Invitational, and Big South Championship, while holding a career scoring average of 74.5. She also captured the prestigious British Amateur Championship in 2024 and opened the season with a career-low 66.

Her success has translated directly to team achievement.

Katie helped lead the Buccaneers to a Big South Championship in 2024 and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010.

USC Upstate Women’s Soccer’s Natalia Moll is a testament to resilience, passion, and commitment — continuing to make an impact on the program in powerful new ways.

After medically retiring from competition, Natalia chose to remain deeply involved with the Spartans, turning adversity into opportunity. Now a dedicated student photographer in the athletic department, she captures the moments and stories that define USC Upstate athletics while staying closely connected to the women’s soccer program she once competed for.

USC Upstate Women's Basketball standout Vera Söderblom is a resilient, high-impact presence on the roster - bringing toughness, determination, and a growing confidence every time she steps on the floor.

Originally from Sweden, Vera's journey has been shaped by perseverance and a deep-rooted athletic background. After battling back from a season-ending injury in 2023-24, she returned stronger than ever, turning adversity into motivation and quickly becoming a key piece of the Spartans' lineup.

Coming from a family of elite competitors - with brothers Arvid and Elmer playing in the NHL and a father who competed professionally in Sweden - Vera embodies resilience, proving that her impact goes far beyond the box score.

High Point Women’s Basketball standout Chana Paxixe is one of the most personality-driven players on the roster — always bringing energy, positivity, and leadership wherever she goes.

Originally from Beira, Mozambique, Chana has faced the challenges of being far from home with a constant smile and an inspiring outlook. She’s the first to turn any negative into a positive, and her teammates and coaches have truly become her second family.

🏀 Midway through the season, Chana earned her spot in the starting five, proving through relentless effort and team-first mentality that she’ll do whatever it takes to help her team win.
